Mabon Sabbat
September 23
Autumnal Equinox

Also known as: Harvest Home, the Feast of the Ingathering, Autumn Equinox, Aban Efed

The lesser Sabbat of Mabon is the second of the three Harvest festivals, preceeded by Lughnassadh and followed by Samhain. Mabon is the festival celebrating the Autumn Equinox, and is the last of the Light Sabbats in the Correllian Tradition.

Mabon is a time of thanksgiving for the harvests of the season, and is a good time to hold a feast honoring the Goddess and God. This is also a popular time for celebrating the Dionysus-aspect of the God, as this is also the time of the grape harvest.

With the onset of the Fall Equinox, the balance of day and night is achieved again, and the sun's power begins to wane in earnest. This is when the plants give up their fruits and decrease in potency, and when the powers of night begin to grow dominant in the land.

Decorating with harvest and autumn-themed items is appropriate during the Harvest season. This is also a good time to partake of a thanksgiving feast, with plenty of Harvest goodies and good wine.
